How to pack and ship different items
A parcel is handled, stacked and sorted by machines a dozen times. Packing for that is cheaper than a claim.
Five centimetres of cushioning
Nothing should touch the walls of the box, and nothing should move when you shake it.
Tape in an H
Tape the centre seam and both edges, top and bottom. Never tie a parcel with string.
One label only
Remove old labels and barcodes: sorting machines read whatever they see first.
Fragile, liquid and electronic
Glass and ceramics go wrapped individually, standing up, in a box inside another box. Liquids need a sealed bag and an absorbent layer. Electronics travel in the original box when possible, with the battery installed in the device, never loose.
Measure before you quote
Measure the box after it is closed, including any bulge, and weigh it with the contents inside. If the carrier re-measures and finds a bigger parcel, the price is corrected afterwards, and you will see the carrier's measurement before any adjustment.
